What we’ve been doing…

Science

Year 4/5 have had a fun afternoon as they participated in a hands-on experiment to discover how unsupported objects respond to the force of gravity.

The children dropped balls of various sizes and weights into a tray of flour, creating fascinating craters. They measured the diameter and depth of each crater, observing and discussing the impact of different forces in action.

PSHCE

Today was an exciting day at our school as Lucy from Coram Life Education visited every class to deliver engaging sessions focused on our PSHCE (SCARF) curriculum!

Our Year 4 and 5 children had a great time exploring vital lessons about mental well-being and learning valuable techniques on how to stay healthy—both physically and emotionally. Harold, the giraffe, also made an appearance, much to the delight of the children (and staff!)

Cooking Up Healthy Habits!

The photographs below showcase a fantastic learning experience where the class prepared a low-cost, healthy meal: tabouleh! This activity provided a valuable opportunity to explore food origins, healthy eating, sustainability, and budgeting. Through cooking, the children gained practical life skills and a deeper understanding of making nutritious choices while being mindful of costs and the environment.

Reading Music

We have started to learn to read musical notation. Listen to what we've achieved so far!

Exploring Ancient Greece Through Cooking!

The photographs below capture Year 4/5 children engaging in a hands-on activity as part of their class topic on Ancient Greece. They have been busy preparing, cooking, and tasting delicious chicken gyros - a dish inspired by Greek cuisine. This practical session not only brought history to life but also allowed our young learners to explore cultural traditions in a fun and tasty way!
