Head Teacher's Welcome
On behalf of the Governing Body, the staff and all of the children at Elland C of E Junior, Infant and Nursery School, welcome to our website.
Our school is situated in the heart of Elland town centre and serves the local community where children from different faiths, backgrounds and abilities learn together. We are an aided school. We work hard to embody our Christian ethos in all aspects of school life and are proud of our strong links with our Parish churches, St. Mary’s and All Saints.
I am proud to be Headteacher here at Elland. Our fantastic pupils, amazing staff team, involved and knowledgeable governors and supportive parents make it a wonderful place to work, learn and grow together. Our teachers are dedicated, conscientious in their duties and devote a great deal of time and effort to provide high quality education for all our pupils.
There are many opportunities for parents and carers to get involved with their child’s education. A strong partnership between school and home gives the best opportunity for a child’s success.
Visits to the school are encouraged and welcomed – myself or my team would be more than happy to show you around and answer any further questions you may have. We look forward to meeting you.
Our website is regularly updated so please come back often.
Miss Louise Hartley
Our Vision
‘May God give us the courage to try, the will to succeed and hope without limits’
At Elland C of E we encourage and support our children to reach their full potential. With high aspirations for all, we help each other to learn through our core Christian Values of Kindness, Resilience and Reverence.
Our vision is underpinned by the story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17)
The story tells us that, when faced with a challenge, David knew that what mattered was his heart, his courage and his commitment. We apply these same principles in our school life.
We live our vision throughout our school and follow God’s continuing act of CREATION:
Christian Values: Having our Christian values permeate a rich and varied curriculum;
Resilience: Recognise, encourage and model resilience and independence;
Encouragement: Creating a warm, safe, positive and loving environment in which to learn and work;
Aspirations: Having high expectations for all in the school community;
Togetherness: Putting the child and their family at the centre of all decisions we make;
Invitational: Providing an inclusive education, recognising and promoting the team’s strength;
Opportunities: Developing and regularly reviewing our provision to create opportunities for all;
Nourished, in mind, body and soul: Providing nurture and care for our children’s spiritual, emotional, moral, physical, social and cultural wellbeing.
