What we’ve been doing…

Sewing

Year 4 have designed and created a pencil case; the designs are linked to school - hearts, bees, crosses and books.

The children have used blanket stitch to sew around their product and back stitch to sew on the appliqué. They have done an amazing job and these will be used in class to keep our stationery in.

Europe and North America

Year 4 have really enjoyed learning about Europe and comparing it to North America.

For our final lesson the children have shared some project homework's they have created. The children were really creative and we had models, PowerPoints and fact sheets.
A huge well done to all those that contributed and presented to the class.

Mathsopoly

Year 4 have been busy learning about addition and subtraction of two 4 digit numbers. They have played a mathsopoly game where they got to put their skills to the test and challenge their friends.

Rounding fun!

The children in Year 4 have been using their place value knowledge to support their learning about rounding. They played a game with a partner to round to the nearest 100. What a fun, practical lesson we had whilst learning a new skill.

Yucky Fun!

In Year 4 we have been learning about solids and liquids and being able to identify what makes them a solid or liquid.
We discovered a problem with slime.
Slime is neither a solid nor a liquid, but a non-Newtonian fluid, a substance that behaves like a liquid in some situations and a solid in others, depending on the pressure applied.
When you apply force, like squeezing or hitting it, slime becomes more solid-like and resists deformation. However, when the force is removed, or when you let it drip, it flows and takes the shape of its container like a liquid.
We had lots of yucky fun investigating this.
